1. There is a birth recorded in NSW on Friday, 18 September 1857, to Charles JOHNSTON and Eliza REID (REED sic) for which we have the transcription. The uncertainty about her mother's maiden name comes from the birth saying REED but the death certificate says McREA. There are three births recorded in Queensland of Mabel in 1877, Alexander in 1894 and Helen in 1900 all named JOHNSTON with a mother of Mary Ann but no father.
