6. Jessie David Sawyer, sometime Alderman for the East Ward of Brisbane, and his family. The family from the left includes Ida May Sawyer (daughter) born 19 December 1885, Cyril Henry (Bill) Sawyer (son) born 13 August 1888, Jessie David Sawyer (standing) born or baptised 9 April 1854, married 20 July 1880 and died 16 October 1919 in Brisbane. Jessie's wife Patience Jemima Sawyer (nee Smith) born 1858 in Brisbane and died 25 May 1916. She was the daughter of an early Brisbane settler who had a tinsmith's shop in Queen Street in the early 1860s (see JOL negative no. 166675). The next person is the son Sidney Charles Sawyer born 19 July 1881 in Brisbane, married 6 November 1907 and died 7 July 1864. Sidney became a jeweller and worked for Flavelle, Roberts and Sankey around 1904. He later had his own shop in Elizabeth Street and lived at Kangaroo Point. Seated on the the far right is Ruby Jane Sawyer (daughter) who was born 15 May 1887. (Description supplied with photograph)
