The letter read: "Dear Miss Marshall, - Will you do us the favour of accepting the accompanying book as a small token of the esteem and affection which we, your pupils, entertain towards you - Fourth class Normal School, September 29, 1868." Then follow 13 signatures - Mary Harding, Lucy Fletcher, Nora Barry, Joan L. Street, Ruth Sutherland, Charlotte Carver, Catherine Ross, Zilpah Longland, Caroline Brown, Millicent Cairncross, Kate Gripp, Ephrath Paulovich Mary Keith, Emily Fryar. How many of the signatories to this document are still alive? And how many retain the surnames that they signed?
