Newspaper Notice Latest by Telegraph. TOOWOOMBA. December 11. MR. SPIRO died at midnight on Sunday, of dropsy. The cadets from Brisbane arrived here on Saturday at noon, and were met by Toowoomba cadets on the railway platform. The reception was enthusiastic. A luncheon was given to the cadets and their officers, in the School of Arts, and there was a church parade on Sunday. A public luncheon has been given on the grounds, Captain Smith acting as chairman Among the principal speakers were Mr. Groom, M.L.A.. Captain Snelling, lieutenants Boyce and Godsall, and the chairman. In the cricket match between the Brisbane and Toowoomba cadets, Brisbane won by 23 runs. A Volunteer named William Kneen died yesterday, and was buried to-day with military honors. The Brisbane band and cadet corps both attended, Captain Snelling being in command of the funeral procession. Latest by Telegraph. (1876, December 16).
