DR. WRAY'S ABSENCE.
Owing to Dr. Wray's absence in the South it has been necessary to temporarily fill the offices held by him. Dr. Marks will act as medical officer at Brisbane, and take over all the other duties of Dr. Wray, with the exception of visiting surgeon at the Penal Establishment of St. Helena, to which post Dr. J. Wassell has been temporarily appointed.

The funeral of Dr Wray was largely attended to day. The medical practitioners and the officers of the Home and Chief Secretary's Departments were largely represented.
