The magisterial enquiry in regard to the
fatal accident which occurred yesterday
shows that the deceased was a man named
Jacob Grieves, and that, while applying the
the brake to a waggon, he became jammed
between the nave of the wheel and the siding along which the vehicle was passing. The
poor fellow was frightfully Injured, and only
lived a few minutes.

FROM further particulars in regard to the accident at Ravenswood, reported in our telegraphic
columns yesterday, it appears that the deceased,
a bullock-driver named Jacob Grieves, was driving for Mr. Morgan, carrier. When near Kirk
creek on the Townsville and Ravenswood road, it
became necessary to put on the brakes, as the dray
was going down the cutting leading to the creek.
By some means the deceased was caught between
the dray wheel and the bank of the cutting, and
crushed in such a manner that he died immediately afterwards. The magisterial enquiry was
held yesterday.
