MOTOR CYCLISTS INJURED
MACHINE STRIKES GARDEN PLOT
When the motor-cycle they were riding struck the circular garden plot near the entrance to Martyn-street cemetery at 7.37 o'clock last night. William McDougall, of Freshwater, and Gordon Williamson, of Stratford, were injured, the former seriously.
McDougall received internal injuries, a probable fracture of the skull and lacerations and contusions above the left eye. His pillion rider, Williamson, had lacerations to the left toes and foot.
Both were given first-aid by the Cairns ambulance and taken to Hospital McDougall was admitted, but Williamson was allowed to leave after treatment.

MR. W. J. MCDOUGALL
As a result of an accident, the death took place in Cairns this afternoon of Mr. William James McDougall, of Freshwater, at the age of 22 years. The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. McDougall, of Freshwater, where he was a member of the local cricket club. He was employed at Cummins and Campbell, Cairns.
The funeral is appointed to move from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, North Cairns, at 5 o'clock on Thursday afternoon, when Rev. Father O'Donnell will officate at the church and graveside.

The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. McDougall Freshwater, and Mr. Jack Toomey, Brisbane, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral of their late beloved son and brother. WILLIAM JAMES MCDOUGALL, which is appointed to move from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, North Cairns, at 5 o'clock THIS (THURSDAY) AFTERNOON, en route to the Cairns Cemetery, Martyn-st.
The staff of Cummins and Campbell, Cairns, the members of the Waterside Workers' Federation, Cairns Branch, and the members of the Freshwater Cricket Club are also invited to be present.

OBITUARY.
WILLIAM JOHN McDOUGALL.
All Freshwater residents were saddened to learn of the death on Wednesday April 8 last of William John (Billy) McDougall (22). who passed away at the Cairns Base Hospital where he had lain unconscious for three days as a result of a road accident. The funeral, which was one of the largest seen for some considerable time, took place on Thursday April 9 from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, North
Cairns, when Rev. Father O'Donnell officiated. The pall bearers were Messrs. H. A. Adair (Member for Cook), H. Thomas (Freshwater ALP.). T. Owens, T. Adair (Freshwater Cricket Club). L. Able and T. Holey (Staff of Cumming Ar Campbell (Ltd.)
The late Billy McDougall was born at Cairns on December 3, 1930 and has resided at Freshwater all of his life. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. McDougall, both highly respected residents of Freshwater, who have lived In that district for well over 25 years.
Billy McDougall received his early schooling at the Freshwater State School and later attended the Marist Brothers College, Cairns, and subsequently after passing his Junior University Examination, be attended Nudgee College Brisbane.
On his return to Freshwater he received an appointment to the clerical staff of Cummins & Campbell Ltd. of this city, where he quickly became well liked and trusted as a courteous and efficient officer, and respected as one marked down for promotion In the company's
service. He retained this posi tion until his death.
The late Billy McDougall was a keen cricket enthusiast and was a prominent member of the Freshwater Cricket Club where his sportsmanship and clean love of the game made him universally popular. As a mark of respect his late club has Instituted a Memorial Trophy to his memory, to be known as the "William McDougall "Trophy". He was also an active member of the Freshwater Branch of the
Australian Labour Party. Although Billv McDougall was taken from earthly life at such a young age, he has left behind him an everlasting mark on all those who were privileged to know him. His was indeed a cheerful and courteous disposition, and his closest friends, have never known him to pass judgement on any of his fellows.
He indeed was ennobled by a nature that saw good in everything and his memory will forever remain as a shining example for others to follow.
May God in his infinite mercy grant him everlasting peace and rest.
