Her father was listed as a butcher at the time of birth. Esther was baptised on Sunday, 8 August 1841, by William West SIMPSON at St. Johns church of England, Parramatta. When she married Daniel in Brisbane in a civil ceremony, her father was listed as a farmer and her mother, who was a witness at the ceremony, was only able to make her mark.
