Ipswich Police Court.
(Before the Police Magistrate.)
Saturday, December 22.
WITHOUT A HOME
A neatly-dressed, respectable looking young woman named Tilly Tattan, twenty two years of age, was brought before the Court. Ssenior Sergent Burke stated that, on the previous evening, the constable on duty at North Ipswich saw the girl wandering about the street. In answer to a question put to her, she said that she had no friends in Ipswich, nor had she any money. Consequently, the constable took her to the watch house for protection. Replying to an interrogation from the Bench, the girl stated that she had recently arrived from Roma, where her father resided. The Police Magistrate then informed the girl that, if she called at his office after the sitting of the Court, be would see about getting her sent home.

No birth or baptism under any name was found. Karen O`Reilly writes that she is researching a Daniel PAGE who was a bit of a lad and apparently had several spouses in Australia and New Zealand and so John was probably born elsewhere.
