THE HALLIGAN MURDER.
Execution of Archibald.
The last act of this tragedy was performed at Rookhampton on the 22nd of December, when Archibald, perhaps the most guilty of the three men principally concerned in the murder of Patrick Halligan, paid the penalty of his crime on the gallows. The following account of the execution, though objectionable in many respects, is less so than the only other narrative that has been published. It is from a Rockhampton paper of December 28:

The marriage of Mr. Charles Henry Powers (eldest son of Mr. Charles Powers, Commonwealth Solicior-General, Melbourne) to Miss Evelvn Burstall (second daughter of Mr. J. E. Burstall, Coorparoo) was solemnised yesterday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Church, the Ven. Archdeacon Le Fanu officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of white figured chiffon over a slip of glace silk. The long Court tirain of white brocade fell from the shoulders, and a coronet of orange blossoms and beautiful veil of embroidered tulle completed the pretty costume. A. shower bouquet of bridal flowers and ferns, tied with loops and streamers of white chiffon, was carried by the bride, and amongst her ornaments was a beutiful pearl and turquoise necklet, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Lilian Burstall (sister of the bride) and Miss Thurlow. They were dressed alike in very pretty frocks of pink silk, the bodices having yokes and bretelles of rich guipure. Their hats were of pink straw in the Romney shape, and were swathed with pink silk to match their dresses, a cluster of pink roses with autumn leaves being placed at the side. Their bouquets of pink sweet peas and ferns veiled in pink tulle, and their pearl and coral pendants and chains, were gifts from the bridegroom. Mr. Seppelt acted as best man, and Mr. A. Burstall as groomsman. Mrs. Burstall (mother of the bride) wore a gown of black and heliotrope mousseline de soie, and a bonnet of heliotrope chiffon. Mrs. H. J. Oxley wore a black costume and small block bonnet relieved with touch of heliotrope. Mrs. H. L. E. Ruthning also wore black, her black toque having a
chou of white chiffon. Mrs. T W. Connah's costume was of black silk and lace, and she also wore a small bonnet of black tulle with pink flowers. Mrs. Turner gown of pink glace silk, with yoke of cream guipure, and sleeves of point d'esprit net, under wing sleeves of pink silk ; large white hat with cluster of deep red roses. Miss Pickburn's frock was of sage green crepe de Chine, ornamented with cream guipure; white hat with gray ostrich plumes. Mrs. Athelstane Oxley, Miss Hellicar. Misses Pearlie and Amy King, Mr. Nicol Robinson, and many others were also present.
After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Burstall entertained a large number of guests at their residence at Coorparoo, and later in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Powers left for Tweed Heads, en route for Sydney and Melbourne. Many very handsome presents were received by the bride from all parts of Australia, and the gifts included manv valuable cheques.
Some of the bridal costumes were made by Miss Grimley, and the flowers were from the London American Florists.

The marriage of Mr. Eric James Wilson (third son of the late Mr. James Wilson, Ullathorn, Warwick, and of Mrs. Wilson, Euroa, West End) to Miss Lilian Maude Burstall (youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Burstall Barston Place, Coorparoo) took place at St. John's Cathedral on July 10, The Sub-Dean officiated.
