BREACH OF THE HIRED SERVANTS ACT.-Alfred Triggs and Frederick Hodgkiss, prisoners per ship Hashemy, and holding tickets-of-leave for Moreton Bay, were charged last Monday, at the Police Office, with having absented themselves from the hired service of their employer, Mr. John Markwell, of North Brisbane, from 7 o'clock on Friday night until 12 o'clock on Sunday morning. The complainant stated further, that the prisoners were drunk when they left his premises, Mr. Markwell did not wish to press for a severe punishment, and the sentence therefore was only seven days solitary confinement, on bread and water.
