DEATH OF ISIS RESIDENT.

The death occurred at his son's residence at Apple Tree Creek, on Sunday, of Mr. Isaac Pitt, at the age of 85 years and 9 months. The deceased who was an old resident of Granville, was born in Barling (Essex, England) and was married at Essex at the age of 21 years. He came to Queensland in the ship St. James in the year l874, and had been a resident of Maryborough for 50 years where he was in the employ of Messrs. Walkers Ltd. and had carried on work as a carpenter and contractor. For the past 40 years he had been connected with the No. 2 Tent of the Rechabite Lodge of Queensland, and for the last three years he had resided with his son, Mr. Wm. Pitt, at Apple Tree Creek. He Is survived by a grown up family of six viz. Messrs Isaac (Sydney), William and Stephen Pitt (Apple Tree Creek), and Mesdames E. Humes (Maryborough), M. A. Jarvis (Tieriza) and J. Swansborough (Isis) ; also 52 grandchildren and 65 great-grand-children. The funeral left, his son's residence "Watervale," for the Apple Tree Creek cemetery at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

WOMAN FATALLY INJURED

Car Overturns on Tiaro Road

INJURIES which caused her death a few hours later in hospital were sustained by Mrs. Mary Ann Jarvis early yesterday morning when the car in which she was travelling overturned on the Tiaro-road. The husband of the dead woman, Mr. Walter Robert Jarvis, and her son, Mr. Edward Norman Jarvis, who also were in the car, escaped with a severe shaking. The car was badly damaged.
Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis and their son, who reside in Ferry-street, left yesterday morning by car for Gootchie, Mr. Edward Jarvis was driving. About ten miles from Maryborough, on the Tiaro side of Owanyilla going up a hill, the car ran into some loose gravel, in trying to get clear of the gravel the driver swung the car to the left and one wheel went over an embankment, overturning the vehicle. Mr. Walter Jarvis. who was sitting in the back seat alone, was thrown out. A motorist on his way from Tiaro to Maryborough came on the scene and conveyed the mother and son to Maryborough, where Mrs. Jarvis was admitted to a private hospital, where it was found that she had sustained a badly fractured arm and other injuries. The accident occurred shortly before eight o'clock and Mrs. Jarvis died about 11.45 o'clock.

HUSBAND UNINJURED

Her husband, who was uninjured, except for a shaking, elected to remain with the car, which was later towed into Maryborough.
The late Mrs. Jarvis, who was in her 66th year, was a well-known and highly respected resident of Maryborough. She was born in Essex, England, and came out to Queensland at the age of one year with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Pitt, of Granville. She had resided in Maryborough since her arrival in the country.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jarvis is survived by seven sons—Messrs. Walter (Bundaberg), Bert (Gootchie), Sidney and Reginald (Mundubbera), Edward (Maryborough), Steve (Innisfajl) and Leslie (Pilerwa) — and one daughter, Mrs. J. A. McKay (Brisbane). In addition there are two brothers, Messrs. William (Maryborough) and Steve Pitt (Apple Tree Creek), two sisters, Mesdames J. Swanborough and F. Hume (Maryborough), and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will take place this afternoon from St. Paul's Church of England after a service commencing at 4 o'clock.

Mrs. Mary Jarvis

A sad accident on the Tiaro Road, Maryborough last Sunday week resulted in the death of Mrs. Mary Ann Jarvis (65), when the car in which she was travelling overturned.
The deceased lady, who was a well known and highly respected resident of Maryborough, was born in Essex, England, and came out to Queensland at the age of one year with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Pitt, of Granville.
She had resided in Maryborough since her arrival in the country. She is survived by her husband and family of seven sons and one daughter. In addition she is survived by two brothers and two sisters, and there are also nine grandchildren.
Mrs. E. J. Moriarty, of Innisfail, is a cousin; and Mr. S. Jarvis, who works at Goondi mill in the sugar season, is a son. He travelled to Maryborough by aeroplane on Monday of last week, and was in time for the funeral.

DEATH OF MR. F. BRENNAN.

The friends of Mr. Francis Brennan, of Redbank Plains, will regret to learn of his death, which took place at the Ipswich Hospital on Saturday morning last. It will be remembered that, about a fortnight ago, Mr. Brennan was thrown from his horse, by which he sustained a fracture of the skull and concussion of the brain. The mishap was obviously of a serious nature, and the deceased remained in an unconscious state throughout. He was removed from his residence on the 3rd instant to the institution named, where he expired on the day stated. Mr. Brennan was forty-two years of age, and leaves a widow and family to mourn their loss. He was a quiet unassuming man, and was generally respected by those who knew him. For several years he creditably filled the position of overseer to the Purga Divisional Board, and had been twenty years in the colony. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, and was largely attended. In another column Mrs. Brennan and family tender their heartfelt thanks to Drs. Dunlop and Thornton, and to the nurses of the Ipswich Hospital, for their kind and skilful treatment of the deceased, and to their neighbours and friends who showed their sympathy in the sad circumstances.
