Sophia was caught up in a bigamous marriage when she married Henry George Wilton on Wednesday, 19 July 1893. Henry had previously married Annie Mary HUNT on Friday, 23 December 1892 when he used the surname of MANNAY. For his dastardly crime he was given nine months imprisonment.
VAGRANCY. - William Trieschman was charged, on remand, with being a vagrant, having no lawful means of support. Inspector Lewis prosecuted, and Mr. Gore Jones appeared for the accused. The prisoner called his father in his defence, and Mr. Trieschman stated that for the last month his son had been working regularly as a bootmaker for him, and was earning at the rate of 30s. The witness enumerated the work his son had done; the accused had also, according to his father, slept at home three nights in the week. Mr. Pinnock said he was not prepared to regard the witness's evidence as satisfactory, and his reason for saying so was because he knew Trieschman was worse than his son, whom he had brought up as a criminal. After some further remarks between the police-magistrate Mr. Jones, and Inspector Lewis, the case was remanded until Saturday morning to allow of further evidence being called in the accused's defence.
