On the western boundary of Kiora Mr. F. J. Barram about three months ago took up an eighty acre block, all in scrub country. He Has felled five acres of scrub, but the timber is not yet dry enough to burn properly. Mr. Barram has built himself a hut as a temporary residence : but he has timber and galvanised iron on the ground to erect a nice cottage when the scrub has been burned. He also has two galvanised iron tanks, one 1000 gallons, wire netting for the fence, and other necessaries for his new home. Mr. Barram is a young amn, unmarried, and comes from Many Peaks. He has four horses for farm use. When the burning off has been done he will plant corn and a patch of sugarcane. His intention is to go in for cane-growing subsequently.
