A sad and fatal accident occurred about half-past one today at Pizzey's sawmill, when an employee named John Wallace, about 58 years of age, came to an untimely end. He was engaged sharpening the knives of a planing machine on a huge grindstone when it suddenly broke into several pieces, striking the victim in various parts of the body, breaking four ribs and both his thighs. Other parts of the stone flew about the mill. Dr. Challands was at once called in, but the unfortunate man was beyond all human aid. Deceased was a widower, his wife having dropped dead a little over two years ago. Three daughters (one married, and the youngest about 14) are left to mourn the sad loss of their father. Sergeant Kelly, Constable Walsh, and Mr. J. Stirling, J.P., visited the scene of the dreadful calamity.
