A wedding of interest to a large circle of friends was celebrated at All Saints' Church, Wickham Terrace, on August 7, when Mr. Robert Cairns (eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cairns, South Brisbane) was married to Miss Florence Ethel Barbour (youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Barbour, of Croydon).
The Rev. Mr. Nightingale officiated. A beautiful floral wedding bell was suspended over the bridal party. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law (Mr. Sydney Sparkes), wore an exquisite gown of ivory satín, the bodice and skirt being daintily trimmed with chiffon roses and orange blossoms, the bodice had vest and collar made in military style. The court train fell from the neck, and was beautifully trimmed with chiffon flowers, orange blossoms, true lover's knots, and seed pearls. A handsomely embroidered bridal veil (given by her sister, Mrs. Sydney Sparkes) was worn in cap style, with a wreath of orange blossoms. Her beautiful shower bouquet and a gold wristlet watch were gifts from the bridegroom. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was an engraved gold sovereign case. Misses Phoebe Arnold (chief) and Dora Cairns (sister of the bridegroom) acted as bridesmaids, and little Miss Ruby Thwaites and Master Cecil Sparkes as train bearers. Miss Arnold wore a dainty frock of white floral silk crepe, the bodice trimmed with collar and fichu of fine net lace, with skirt draped, and a tunic of net insertion, finished at waist with a bolt of vieux rose velvet. She also wore a sailor hat of white Tagal straw, trimmed with bunches of flowers and black velvet streamers. Miss Dora Cairns wore a pretty frock of silk poplin, trimmed with fine Valenciennes lace and white satin rosettes, and a dainty lace and silk Juliet cap. Each maid carried a shower bouquet with rose coloured streamers, which, with a gold brooch, set with pearls and rubies, was a gift from the bridegroom. Little Miss Thwaites wore a pretty frock of white silk, trimmed with lace and satin rosettes and ribbon, and a Juliet cap. She carried a basket of flowers. Master Cecil Sparkes wore a Fauntleroy suit of cream serge, with sash of white silk, embroidered collar and cuffs, and a white felt Cavalier hat, with ostrich feather. He held a shepherd's' crook of white flowers. The flowers, with suitable gifts, were presents from the bridegroom.
Messrs. John Cairns and Claude Reid acted, as best man and groomsman respectively. Miss Carlyle (Sydney) played Mendelssohn's "Wedding March." After the ceremony a reception was held at the Cafe Majestic. The guests, numbering 50, were received by the bride's sister (Mrs. Sydney Sparkes), who wore a gown of champagne tinted silk poplin, made in military style, the bodice having a shaped tunic, finished with corded tassels over pleated skirt, and a smart black and white hat, with a knot of champagne coloured roses and ostrich plumes. Dancing and other amusements were enjoyed after the wedding breakfast, the music being supplied by Miss Dunn. Several cheques and numerous handsome presents were received. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cairns left for Toowoomba, en route to Sydney and the Blue Mountains. Mrs. Cairns wore a smart tailored costume of navy blue serge, and a black velvet sailor hat, with gold cord and streamers.

GOEBEL.-In loving remembrance of a dear husband and father, who departed this life September 15th, 1915, at Boonah.
"Earth to earth, and dust to dust,"
Calmly now the words we say,
Leaving him to sleep in trust
Till the Resurrection day,
Father, in Thy gracious keeping,
Leave we now Thy servant sleeping.
Inserted by a loving wife and family.
Short was the call he had from above,
Not a word to his loved ones could say,
His eyes closed in death as a babe in its sleep,
As he silently passed away.
Time does not altar love so true,
The shock was great; the pain severe,
For little we thought the end was near.
Only those who have lost are able to tell
The pain of the heart at not saying farewell.
Inserted by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Stuart.

VALE, GEORGE.
"Truth" deeply regrets the death, on Friday afternoon, of its old comrade, George Barber, for several years a member of "Truth's" staff, and one of the most prominent sporting writers in the city and the greatest fishing enthusiast we have ever met. As a colleague George Barber was always honorable and upright. He at all times enjoyed the confidence and trust of his fellows, and the sterling way he honored them was a trait that won him the admiration of all who knew him.
In his younger days George was a crack athlete, while as an amateur horseman he had few peers. Always genial, the friends he made was legion, and, better still, he retained their friendship until he set out on the sunset trail. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the wife and relatives who are left to mourn the death of a white man.
