A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Andrew's Church, Gympie, on April 7, when Mr. James Charles Goodwin (second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Goodwin, Killarney) was married to Miss Charlotte Jane Smith (eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Smith Gympie). The Rev. A. T. Creswell officiated. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a handsome costume of white satin with tunic of shadow lace and embroid ered in pearls. She also wore a tulle veil and a wreath of orange blossoms and myrtle, and carried a handsome bouquet of dahlias and ferns. Misses Lily and Lorna Smith (sisters of the bride) acted as bridesmaids. Miss Lillv Smith wore a dainty gown of pale blue embroidered voile and a pretty full white satin hat, with black velvet trim and white poppies ind ospreys. She carried a bouquet of white dahlias and ferns with pale blue streamers. Miss Lorna Smith wore cream crystalline costume, trimmed with guipure, finished with a deep belt of cream silk and a ninon hat bordered with red velvet and rose. She carried a bouquet of while flowers and ferns with white streamers. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a set of gold sleeve links and the bridegroom's gift to the brides maids were handsome gold brooches. Mr. William Smith acted as best man, and Mr. James Carkeet (cousin of the bride) acted as groomsman. After the ceremony the wedding party adjourned to the resi dence of the bride's parents where about 40 guests were entertained. The wedding breakfast was served in a large diningroom, the tables being decorated with car nations and asparagus plumosus. The centre of the bride's table was occupied by a handsome three-tier wedding cake. Mrs. Smith (mother of the bride) wore a gown of black brocaded silk; smart toque trimmed with black and white feathers. Mrs. Goodwin wore a saxo blue crepe de Chine gown with long pleated tunic, the full blouse opening over a long vest of ninon. She also wore a hat of black velvet with a large spray of white poppies. The presents were numerous and handsome, and included several cheques. The invited guests included Mr. and Mrs. Weynand (Brisbane, grand uncle and aunt of the bride). Mr. T. The death occurred about 11 o'clock last night of Mrs. E J Cooling, an old and highly-respected resident of Brisbane, and relict of the late Mr. John Cooling (formerly clerk of his Majesty's Gaol, Brisbane). The late Mrs Cooling, who was in her eighty-fourth year, arrived in Queensland in 1853, in the ship Calfernia, and resided at Ashburnham, Given-terrace, for over forty years. (Her husband died in 1869, but she leaves three sons and three daughters Mrs. T. J. White, Mrs. W. J. Overell (who, with her husband, is at present on a visit to England), Miss Ellen Cooling, and Messrs. A. I. Cooling (chief bailiff of the District Court), E. C. Cooling (acting superintendent of mails), and J. A. Cooling. She also leaves 37 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon to the Toowong Cemetery.
