Death of Mr. William Holliday.
Yesterday evening, just after six o'clock, we heard of the death of Mr. William Holliday, of Sherwood. From what can be gathered it appears that Miss Holliday was in Beenleigh in the afternoon, and when she arrived home she found her father dead on the bed. He appeared all right when she started for Beenleigh. Mr. Holliday was about 83 years of age, and landed on the Logan in August, 1864. The old gentle man was a very quiet and retiring person and was very much respected by all who knew him.

We regret to chronicle the death of Mr. Joseph Holliday, which occurred at his residence, Koongal, yesterday morning. Though the deceased has suffered rather severely for a long time from an accident he met with several years ago, he has been able to attend to his duties until within the last few weeks. He was very well known in the town and district. He came here about nine or ten years ago, and was for some time head-master of the Port Curtis Road School. He left the civil service to take an appointment under Messrs. Aplin, Brown, and Co., and acted as their representative at the terminus of the Central Railway for some time. He found the frequent changes of residence, as the line was pushed further and farther westward, did not agree with his health, and settled down in Rockhampton. During the greater part of that time he has been an employe in the Bulletin office, and was a general favourite with those with whom he was associated. He frequently assisted the clergy, either by taking their place in town pulpits on Sunday when they had to travel to distant settlements, or by visiting preaching stations in the country as their substitute. He leaves a widow and several young children, who are, we believe, fairly provided for. His remains will be interred to-day.

HOLLIDAY. — In loving remembrance of my loving husband, Joseph, who departed this life on the 18th July, 1886. Deeply mourned by all who knew him.
"Sleep on dear husband, take thy rest.
For God has called when he thought best,
The loss is great that we sustain,
But we hope in heaven to meet again."
