The Presbyterian Church, Townsville, was crowded on October 12th, to witness the charming ceremony of the union of Miss Emily Eleanor Campbell with John James Smallwood. The bride is the second daughter of the ever popular and esteemed Aylmer Campbell, while the happy bridegroom occupies a responsible position in the Locomotive Department, Townsville. The bride looked charming in a handsome costume of cream broche, trimmed with white lace and orange-blossoms; wreath and veil. Three of her sisters attended as bridesmaids, the fourth bridesmaid being the little sister of the bridegroom. Miss Agnes Campbell looked well in white India muslin, with rose-colored bows ; the two petite sisters being in white and pink. The bridegroom's little sister also wore white and pink. The mother of the bride was attired in black broche and satin, and displayed the same kindly, beaming countenance always to be seen upon her. Young Aylmer, on the contrary, looked rather glum at losing his sister.

Amberley Fatality.
Further evidence in the inquest into the death of Alymer Pittard Smallwood, who was killed in a motor car collision on the Ipswich-Rosewood-road, near Amnberley, on May 22, was given by Mrs. Mary Smallwood, widow of the victim, before Mr. Johnstone Smith, Acting P.M. in the Police Court yesterday morning. Senior-Sergeant M. Cahill conducted the inquest. Mrs. Smallwood said her husband left home on Friday morning to go to Harrisville, where he had hoped to go on to Warrill View and obtain an engagement at the show as a boxing and wrestling showman. That was the last she heard of him until she was informed of the accident. He had been in good health and in the best of spirits. He was hoping to return home by train from the show, but had secured a ride in a truck with Andy Nelson. Witness had come Io the conclusion that the collision had been an accident. Her husband's life was not insured, nor did he own any property. The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Samuel Sneyd, a gentleman of seventy-five years of age, and formerly Governor of Brisbane Gaol, died at his residence, at Enoggera, on Saturday evening last. He had been sitting during the evening reading a newspaper, in which he found the announcement of the death of an old friend, and remarked upon it to those present. At ten, he retired to bed, and shortly afterwards complained of being unwell. Medical assistance was sent for, but he died within quarter of an hour after first complaining.

Death or Mr.,Samuel Sneyd.—It is with much regret that we have to chronicle the death of another very old colonial, Mr. Samuel Sneyd, of Enoggera. On Saturday evening he had partaken of tea, and while reading the Telegraph was startled to see a notice of the death of Mrs. M'Lean. The shook upset him so much that medical assistance had to be immediately summoned, but he expired before the doctor could reach the house. The news is especially unexpected, inasmuch as Mr. Sneyd was in thoroughly good health up to the time of his death. It transpired at a post-mortem examination by Dr. Hill, that deceased had been suffering from heart disease for many years, and that a sudden shock, such as the one in question, would have proved dangerous if not fatal, over thirty years ago. Mr. Sneyd occupied the post of chief constable of Brisbane, and was afterwards promoted to the Governorship of Brisbane goal, which office he continued to hold till the usual term of service entitling him to a pension had been passed. He then retired to his farm at Enoggera, where he has now ended his days. Mr. Sneyd was 75 years of age. Deceased had a large family, most of whom are married. His funeral took place at 10 o'clock on Monday morning.
