GUMMOW— WARNER. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. John's Church of England, Cairns, on Monday, 1st February (says the Cairns 'Post'), when Hazel, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs S. H. Warner, of Cairns, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony, to George only son of Mr and Mrs G. Gummow, also of that city. Padre Smith officiated at the wedding which was very popular and full of interest. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers for the occasion, and made a becoming setting for the charming young bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father. The bride's wedding dress was of white mariette, made with the new flare on band of deep insertion, and which was also daintily beaded in silver. The net veil was beautifully embroidered, and was caught closely round the head in cap fashion by narrow ruching and orange blossoms. Her large bouquet contained choice white blooms and asparagus fern, tied with white satin streamers. The bride was attended by one bridesmaid, her close friend, Miss 'Peggy' Reed. The bridesmaid's bouquet was of assorted pink blooms and fern tied with rose pink streamers. Mr J. Warner, brother of the bride, attended to the many duties incumbent upon the best man. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs Gummow, was attired in grey mariette, very finely tucked and pleated, set off by a smart tailored black hat with grey mount held in place in front by a silver ornament. At the close of the ceremony, the bridal party motored to the Strand Hotel, where a wedding high tea was partaken of by some eighty guests. In the cool and spurious dining room, where the arrangements were admirably carried out by the management of the Strand Hotel. The room was prettily decorated in a pink and white color scheme, with a profusion of ferns and flowers, making it quite a fairy like scene. The wedding cake was a handsomely iced and ornamented one of three tiers. Mr and Mrs Gummow, Junr., left early for Double Island, where they will spend the next the first portion of their honeymoon, later intending to catch tho Aorangi in Sydney on the 11th for New Zealand, where they will spendin the next few months before returning to take up residence in our midst. The bride's travelling frock was an oriental and navy blue charmeuse satin ensemble suit, and worn with a large navy hat to harmonise that had a gold bound edge and oriental hand; grey hose and snakeskin shoes completed her toilette.
