Mrs. Pamela Coote, a very old Toowoomba indentity, died at her residence, Grenier-street, Toowoomba, yesterday. The late Mrs. Pamela Coote was the eldest daughter of the first white inhabitant of Toowoomba, the late Josiah Dent. Mrs. Coote, it is authoritatvely stated, had an unquestionable claim to being the first white girl child born in Toowoomba, the date of her birth being August 4, 1852. In 1879 she married George Coote, an officer in the Railway Department, who predeceased her several years ago. She is survived by a grown-up family. Her sons are: George Coote, station-master, Cooyar; Cyril Coote Commonwealth Bank, Brisbane, Norman Coote, Chemist, Toowoomba.
Her daughters are: Mrs. Eadie, Nerang; Mrs. Williams, Clayfield; Mrs. Kettle, Mrs. M'Lennan, Toowoomba. Messrs. A. E. Dent, Toowoomba; Joseph Dent, Longrach; and William Dent, Brisbane, are brothers.

Susan was buried with her husband Charles who died ten years earlier. On the marriage certificate for Susan and Charles is a witness by the name of Sarah Martha SMITH. Her maiden name was COWDRON and she married Robert SMITH on the 12th of August 1864. Sarah died on the 18th of June 1896 and her parents were Jonathan CAWDRON and Sarah SMITH.
ADSETT. —On 3rd December, at her residence, Norman-street, East Brisbane, Susan Ann Adsett, relict of the late Charles Adsett, in her 74th year.

Annie Wedlake was born before her parents could marry, and so, she is listed under her mother's maiden name.
A STRUTT family story is that on the day of her wedding she was told that she could not sign the register as an ADSETT because her surname was in fact CHAPPEL. Annie didn`t know till her wedding day that she was illigitimate.
GOLDEN WEDDING CELEBRATED
To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding, Mr. and Mrs. H. Strutt were entertained at the home of their youngest son, Mr. Alick Strutt, Main Avenue, Rainworth, on Saturday evening. Mr. Strutt, who was born in England, left London in the s.s. Quetta in 1886, for Brisbane. He worked for 15 years at the Goldsmiths Hall Company, Queen Street, under the management of the late L. Flegeltaub. Mrs. Strutt was formerly Miss Annie Adsett, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Adsett, Spring Hill, and was born in Brisbane. The wedding, which took place at the home of the bride's parents, was solemnised by the Rev. W. Smith. Primitive Methodist Minister of the Leichhardt Street Church, on September 25, 1889. There are eight children, Mrs, N. Rackley, Coorparoo; Mrs. J. Lawrie, Ithaca; Mrs. J. Murray, Kedron; Miss Gladys Strutt; Mr. Albert Strutt, Kelvin Grove; Mr. Harry Strutt. Wooloowin; Mr. C. Strutt, and Mr. Alick Strutt, Rainworth. There are 21 grandchildren.

According to Henry STRUTT`s diaries, Agnes and her sister Edith were living in Esk late in 1905 when Henry`s daughter, Annie, stayed with them for a while.

On the marriage certificate for William and Jane WEDLAKE, William was recorded as being a widower and it is assumed that if he was maried before that it would have been in his native Ireland.
William McCabe arrived on the Chatsworth aged 38 in 1862, the same ship that Jane Wedlake  emigrated on with Andrew CHAPPLE and his family.
