OBITUARY
Mr W. Downman
Mr William Downman, aged 70, passed away in Gympie General Hospital on November 26 after an illness of some months. Born in Logan Village, he spent his early life there and married Miss Rose Banks, of Jimboomba. Later they moved to Central Queensland and took up cattle grazing on the property known as Memooloo, in the Springsure District. In 1926 he entered the motoring trade at Gympie, where he was active until his retirement a few years ago. His wife predeceased him in April, 1947, and he is survived by two sons, Norman and Herbert, Gympie, and a daughter, Mrs Jessie Kendall, Childers, and five grandchildren.

MRS. E. DOWNMAN
The death took place on the 10th Inst., of Mrs. Elizabeth Downman, at the age of 101 years, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Peel Caswell, of Wonglepong. She was with her husband, Mr. J. Downman, who predeceased her many years ago, among the first pioneers of the Logan Village district. The funeral took place to the Logan Village cemetery, and the last rites were performed by the Rev. F. Wilson, Canungra.

OBITUARY
MRS. ELIZABETH DOWNMAN
Mrs. Elizabeth Downman, who passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M. Caswell, Wonglepong, on January 10, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walls, and was born in the year 1841 at Inverkething, near Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland. Sailing in the "Young Australia," the family came to Australia in 1863, and about two years later the late lady married Mr. Downman at Brisbane. The young couple settled at Chambers Flat, where they earned on farming until 1917, when Mr. Downman died. Mrs. Downman then removed to Wonglepong, where she resided with her daughter until the time of her death. She is survived by three daughters (Mrs. M. Caswell, Wonglepong, Mrs. J. N. Pownall, Many Peaks, and Mrs. E. Wilson, Brisbane), and one son, Mr. W. Downman, of Gympie. One son, George, died a number of years ago, and two daughters were the victims of a drowning fatality when they were children. There are twenty grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren. The late Mrs. Downman, who reached her hundredth birthday last August, was laid to rest in the Logan Village cemetery, where Rev. H. J. Potter (Methodist) read the burial service.
