Mr George Mogridge's house had a narrow escape from destruction by fire last week. Mrs Mogridge was looking for something in her bed, and struck a match ; she was near the window at the time, and the wind raising the light fabric of which the bed furniture was composed, it came in contact with, the match and blazed up, setting the ceiling on fire. An alarm, however, was immediately given, and plenty of help and plenty of water being at hand, the flames were speedily extinguished.
