BARNES-CHARTERIS.-A wedding took place on March 10th, at St. Stephen's Church, Maryborough, between Mr. W. A. Barnes, son of Mrs. Barnes, Cordaloa, and Miss May. I. Charteris, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Charteris, Creek road, Maryborough. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. M. Kirkpatrick. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory white satin charmeuse with an overdress of lace, skirt slightly draped at the side, and caught with a buckle and orange blossoms, showing a panel of lace, fish tail train finished with orange blossoms and tulle roses, and Magyar bodice draped with lace, and caught at the side with orange blossoms. She wore an embroidered tulle veil with wreath of orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet with white satin streamers. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Emily Charteris (sister of the bride) and Miss Hilda Miller, both of whom wore dresses of silk embossed voile, trimmed with val. insertion and tucks, and hats of tango velvet trimmed with guipure lace and plumes. They also carried bouquets tied with tango streamers, and their gold drop pendants were the gifts of the bridegroom. Mr. Walter Charteris, brother of the bride, acted as best man, and Mr. Alf. Kent as groomsman. After the ceremony the bridal party motored to the Temperance Hall, where Mr. and Mrs. A. Charteris entertained about 90 guests After the reception Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Barnes left for Brisbane and Warwick. Mrs. Barnes travelled in a brown silk striped voile trimmed with brown satin and a hat to match.

The death occurred at Maryborough yesterday afternoon of Mrs. Jane Charteris, an old and highly esteemed resident. The deceased was born in Essex (England), and came out to Australia in the sailing ship, Great Queensland, landing in Maryborough. Her husband, the late Mr. Robert Charteris, predeceased her by 16 years. She was also predeceased by one son and one daughter. She leaves a family of four daughters, Mesdames E. V. Hansen (Gayndah), J. Cross (Corinda), P. Trigger and A. E. Trigger (Didcot). There are also 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will move from the Gospel Hall, Walker-street, this afternoon at 2.15. o'clock.
