St. John's Cathedral presented a very pretty scene on Wednesday, the 2nd inst., when the marriage of Mr. Forbes Strachan Smith, (son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Smith, of Woodford), to Miss Lavinia Rowlanids, daughter of Mr. John Rowlands (deceased, of Wales, Britain), and Mrs. Rowlands (Victoria Crescent, Toowong), was solemnised by Canon de Witt Batty. The bride, who was given away by her brother (Mr. H. C. Rowlands), wore a cream satin frock draped at side, and trimmed with small pearls. The veil was of tulle, with double wreath of orange blossom. Miss Muriel Tanner (friend of the bride) attended as bridesmaid, and wore a pretty voile dress, trimmed with guipure lace, with hat of lavender georgette, with spray of French flowers. Mr. A. S. Smith (brother of bridegroom) acted as best man. After the ceremony a dainty wedding breakfast was served at the Wattle Cafe. The tables were prettily decorated with roses and fern. Some of the guests present were: Miss I. Smith, R. Horne, Mr. Currie, Mrs. E. Cane, Mrs. and Mr. J. Stitt, Mrs. R. R. Ogg, Miss J. Lewis, Mrs. A. Jack.
On leaving for the honeymoon (being spent at Coolum), the bride wore a travelling dress of brocaded Fuji silk, with Lady Betty hat of georgette, and large spray of French flowers.
