Fatal Accident.— A telegram was received in Toowoomba yesterday from Normanton, stating that a young man named Frederick Fogarty, a native of the Toowoomba district, was thrown from his horse on the 13th instant, that he died twelve hours afterwards from the injuries he sustained, and that he never spoke after the accident occurred. Fogarty was a fine, healthy young fellow about twenty years of age, and left here about eighteen months ago to try his fortune in the north. His parents live on a selection on the Wesbrook Homestead Area, and much sympathy will be felt for them in their sudden bereavement.

Death of Mr. Frederick Fogarty.—
Particulars of the accident which resulted in the death of this well-known and highly, respected young man have been furnished by his brother, Mr. Geo. Fogarty. We learn that deceased on Saturday last, towards the close of day saddled up and mounted a young horse, lately brought from Canobie by Mr. James Fogarty, in the yards adjoining the Junction Hotel. Though the horse was reputed to be perfectly quiet, tight buckling and a chilly evening roused his mettle, and, on being mounted, he bucked and unseated the deceased, and escaped down the road for about half a-mile, where lie was caught by some teamsters coming along. Though his brothers tried to dissuade Mr. F. Fogarty from remounting, he again gained the saddle, and taking the horse at an easy canter, was proceeding amongst some "devil-devil" country, about half a-mile from the hotel, when the animal was seen to fall and roll over the young man, who fell in his sent. Running to his assistance, Mr. George Fogarty found from the agonised expression of his brothers countenance, he was mortally wounded, and as the latter turned up his eyes, reranrked, "he's gone," a prediction but too soon to be verified. A little brandy and water administered failed to restore consciousness to the sufferer, who was removed to the hotel, and carefully tended all night, but no tokens of vitality were manifested, except a rapid pulse and stertorous breathing. Towards the break of day, his brothers turned the dying man on his side, when a quart of blood and other fluids flowed from his mouth, and shortly after he expired. A quantity of blood and froth then escaped from his lips. The young man had a very fine constitution, as his wrestle with death exemplifies, for the fearful injuries inflicted on his abdomen and person prove nearly conclusively that he really died a few minutes after the accident. Being of a very aimable disposition, the late Mr. Frederick Fogarty had a number friends and no known enemies, and his untimely end will be mourned sincerely by many people wherever be has been. He was a native of Maitland, and but twenty-two years of age. The greatest sympathy may be accorded the Messrs. Fogarty for the loss of a brother to whom they were, and their families no less, devotedly attached.

MR. KENNETH NORMAN McMULLEN
Mr. Kenneth Norman McMullen, who was an inmate of Roma Hospital for a few weeks, and taken by plane last Friday to the Mater Hospital in Brisbane, passed away about 6 30 o'clock the following afternoon. He was 50 years of age, and born in the Roma district, the second eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McMullen, formerly of Bengalla, Roma. He enlisted in the 11th A.L.H. in the last war, and served in Egypt, Palestine, and in the Jordan Valley, where he was severely wounded early in 1918, and his death was largely due to his war disabilities. On return to Roma district he went back to grazing pursuits. He married Miss Margaret Harms, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Chas. Harms, Gladevilla, and resided at Glenlea, a sheep property on Mt. Abundance. He is survived by his wife and four young children, two sons and two daughters.
The funeral moved from St. Paul's Church, Roma, on Wednesday morning and was largely attended by residents of town and district, the 'Last Post' being sounded by Bandmaster Reid at the conclusion of the service at the graveside.
