MR. SEALEY PERRETT. A very old resident of this district in the person of Mr. Sealey Perrett, of Flinders, has just passed away. His demise took place at his residence at about 1 a.m. on Saturday last. He was taken ill some two weeks ago, being attacked by influenza, bronchitis, and congestion of one lung. Dr. Dunlop, his usual medical attendant, was called in, and he unremittingly attended to him, making several trips to Flinders. Mr. Perrett was seventy-three years of age, and, during his illness, he was tenderly nursed by his family and intimate friends. What makes the death all the more sad, is that while he himself was sick his wife was also seriously ill. Mr. Perrett was a native of Somersetshire, England, and reached Australia in the ship Conrad about the year 1855, having therefore been in the colonies over forty years. On his arrival here he almost immediately came to Ipswich, and worked in and around the town for about ten years. Afterwards he settled at Flinders, where he resided ever since, being therefore one of the earliest settlers in that district. He leaves behind him a family of four - Mr. Harry Perrett, a member of the Goolman Divisional Board; Mr. William Perrett, of Flinders; Mrs. David Walton, of Rosevale; end a single daughter. The burial took place in the Harrisville cemetery on Sunday afternoon last, when a very large number of people, including many persons from Ipswich, followed the remains to their last resting place. The deceased had long been connected with the Methodist Church at Woodchurch, and did much towards promoting its interests. He was a brother of the late Mr. Adam Perrett, of Bundaba. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
