MRS. ELIZA JANE SEE
CHILDERS, August 4.

Unrelentingly death has claimed another of the district's well-known and highly esteemed residents in the person of the late Mrs. Eliza Jane See, relict of the late Thomas See, who passed away in the Isis Hospital on Monday night.
The deceased lady had been admitted to hospital only a week previously and had greatly improved in health on Sunday last when she was visited by members of her family. She was stricken down by a heart attack the following night however, and went to her last rest with unexpected suddenness.
Born in Maryborough in the year 1862, the deceased lady subsequently came to the Isis with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Cocking, who were among the earliest pioneers to settle in the scrub. In 1885 she was married to Thomas See, and the young couple set about the task of building a home in a comparative wilderness. Together they fought the battles of the pioneer, enduring the vicissitudes of early settlement with courage and fortitude. In the early nineties, Mr. See became associated with the great sugar industry, being one of the first settlers to grow cane in the Isis. He supplied Messrs. Penny and Coy.'s Knockroe mill for many years up to the time of its purchase by the C.S.R. Coy., when he became a supplier to that company's Childers mill. In 1908 he acquired an area of the Knockroe Estate and the well-known home of the family, "Huntingdon" came into existence. The name of See has been associated with the growth of the Isis from early days.
The late Mr. Thos See died in 1931, and the members of the family now surviving their parents are Messrs. Charles, James, William, Thomas, Edward Francis, Henry, and Victor Stanley. All reside in the Isis, and Mesdames W. A. Allison (Sydney), A. A. Buss (Childers), E. J. Mungomery (Childers), W. T. Elton (Murgon), and a large number of grandchildren.
