There passed away to his last long home on Xmas morn a very old resident of the Isis in Mr. Joshua Holliday at the venerable age of 83, says the "lsis Recorder." Deceased was a native of Carlisle, county of Cumberland, England, and at the age of 23 he took unto himself a helpmate, the ceremony taking place at Glasgow. Some 17 years later with his wife and family he came out to Queensland and for the past thirty years resided in the Isis district. His wife predeceased him some ten years ago when residing at South Isis. There was an issue of eight, six of whom have passed away, the surviving members of the family being Mr. James Holliday lengthsman at Marule, with whom deceased was residing, and Mrs. W. Moller, Booyal, to whom deep sympathy is extended. The deceased, who was in comparatively good health, rose at the usual hour on Xmas morning, which, also it is understood, was his birthday and went outside. Being missed about 7.30 members of the family went to look for him and found him dead, having, passed peacefully away. The body was removed to Childers and the funeral left Mr. W. W. Garland's funeral parlour at 11 o'clock on Boxing Day for the A. T. Greek cemetery, where he was laid to rest alongside the grave of his wife. Cr. B. D. McKenzie rendered great assistance to the family in their sudden bereavement and motored them to Childers to attend the funeral and to him the thanks of the relatives are extended. The service was conducted by Rev. F. W. Wilkinson, while Mr. W. W; Garland attended to the obsequies.

SUDDEN DEATH NEAR CHILDERS.
Yesterday our Childers correspondent advised that Mrs. Margaret Halliday, wife of Mr. Josiah Halliday died very suddenly. She and her husband were very old residents of the Childers district of over 20 years standing. She was 73 years of age. The aged couple left their home yesterday morning at South Isis about 9 o'clock for Childers, to draw their pensions and do their usual weekly shopping. In the usual course of events they left for home. Mrs. Halliday on the way she dozed, apparently not feeling well. On nearing Mr. J. Berg's place, she delivered a parcel. About half way from home she dozed again. On arrival at home at 11.45 a.m., Mrs. Halliday was apparently asleep, but on a man named Arthur Harrison going to assist her out of the sulky, she was found to be dead. Dr. Robertson was sent for, and it is understood that a post mortem examination will be held.
