There died, at her residence, Commercial road, Fortitude Valley, after a long and painful illness, Mrs. Elizabeth Marks, wife of Mr. William Marks, at the age of 72 years. Mrs. Marks arrived with her husband at Rockhampton on 3rd September, 1863, by the sailing ship Saldahna. A fortnight later they arrived in Brisbane, and took up their residence at Commercial-road, Valley, where they have resided ever since. Mrs. Marks leaves a family of three sons and five daughters, married, and thirty-one grandchildren.

Mr. Richard Craig, Stock Inspector, died here last week. He was once engaged in deporting kanakas from Queensland. The death also occurred of Mr. Charles Avery at the advanced age of 85 years. He was a well-known identity in these parts in the early days.
