[[37122]] BOX, Edward, parents John BOX & Jane HARVEY
The death took place yesterday at the Warwick Hospital of Mr. Edward Box, of Wiyarra, at the age of 60 years. The late Mr. Box, who had been ailing for some time, was brought into the Warwick Hospital on Monday in a serious condition, and despite the best of care and attention, passed away as above stated. Deceased, who was a very old and respected resident of this district, was born in Gloucestershire, England. He came to this country 40 years ago, and for over 30 years was employed on Canning Downs as overseer of farming operations on that station. When Canning Downs was cut up Mr. Box took up agricultural operations on his own account at Wiyarra, where he settled down and was remarkably successful. Deceased, who was respected by a large circle of acquaintances, leaves to mourn their irreparable loss a widow, two daughters (one of whom is Mrs. A. E. Mogridge, of Wiyarra), and six sons, one of the latter, Percy, being at the front. We express our sincere sympathy with the relatives. The funeral will leave St. Mark's Church to-day (Friday) at 3 p.m. for the Warwick cemetery.

THE LATE MR. PETER MURPHY.
FOUNDER OF LOCAL CORDIAL FIRM.
Mr Peter Murphy, one of the founders of the firm of Messrs Edwards and Murpby, manufacturers of aerated waters, cordials, and condiments in Rockhampton, died last night. Mr Murphy, who had been in ill-health for some time, was born in Toowoomba and was 68 years of age.
In his early youth Mr Murphy was identified with the aerated water and cordial trade. His father opened aerated water and cordial works in Toowoomba In 1864, and, on his death several years later the business was continued by his mother until 1885, when Mr Murphy removed to Bundaberg and managed a similar class of business for his mother.
Mr Murphy then went to Charters Towers and entered the service of Mr George Summers. After working for Mr Richard Doyle at Croydon (North Queensland) Mr Murphy started a business on his own account; but interest in the town subsided and Mr Murphy sold out.
He came to Rockhampton in 1911, and was employed by his brother Alfred for about two years before he went into partnership with Mr Edwards, who died about 10 months ago.
Latterly Mr Murphy carried on the business in partnership with Mrs Edwards.
The late Mr Murphy, who was of a retiring disposition, is survived by his wife.
