BRISBANE, Wednesday Afternoon, In the Assembly last night Mr. William Clancy Little gave notice that he would move for a return showing the names of applicants for the position of public executioner. It is understood that he intends to show that one of the present leaders of the labor party in this colony was an unsuccessful applicant for the position of hangman.

Billy Little, the elect of Woothakata, was asked by an elector how he was going to live if he got into the House (as he has done). Billy replied : " Well, gentlemen, for every day I attend the House I am entitled to two guineas; besides, I am going to start a Commission agency in Brisbane, and I expect that plenty of Northern men will patronise me." Billy Little is going to give the Hansard men some trouble. His ordinary rate of speed in speech is 180 words per minute, and he can increase it to 200 words per minute at pleasure. The beauty of it is he says nothing in a great many words; but once you get him to yabber about the Ballarat riots, he's wound up for a week's oratory.
