I deeply regret to report to you the death of Mr. Henry Ferrett, brother of John Ferrett, Esq., J.P., of Walloon, Lower Condamine, under the following melancholy circumstances :— It appears that on the 4th instant, the deceased gentleman attempted to swim his horse across the Condamine, at Greenbank, when the current, which was running very rapid at the time, carried his hone down the stream, and the unfortunate gentleman becoming alarmed pulled his horse's head up against it, and in doing so turned the animal over, when the deceased lost his seat, and sunk to rise no more alive. He had been only twelve mouths in this part of the country, and was much esteemed by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and two children to deplore his untimely end.

AN obituary notice, this morning, announces the death of another well-known and respected resident of this town, in the person of Mr. John Hollamby. It seems that deceased, some few months ago, went to reside with his son, William, who is stationmaster at Dulacca, on the Western Railway-line, where Mr. Hollamby passed away on the 28th ultimo. The first intimation of his demise received in Ipswich was on the evening of that day, when Mr. J. Ferrett (with whom deceased had resided for yearn) received a short telegram to that effect. Mr. Ferrett wired on the following (Sunday) morning, asking for further particulars as to the cause of death, and also with regard to the burial. Next morning, a reply came stating that deceased was to be buried in Roma, and that he had died very suddenly, being apparently in the best of health at 6 o'clock, while at 8 he expired. Communications received since show that deceased had been ailing for a day or so and that, on the evening of his death he took a fit, and never regained consciousness. The funeral was fairly well attended, the remains being followed to their last resting place by many of deceased's most intimate friends. Mr. A. Coomber, the well-known railway official, kindly rendered assistance in making preparations for the interment. Before leaving England for Australia, Mr. Hollamby was present at the coronation of her Majesty the Queen, and subsequently left London for the colonies, reaching Australia about 1853. He had been a constant resident of Ipswich for the past nine or ten years, during which time he made many warm friends. He leaves two sons, Mrs. Hollamby, as our readers know, having preceded him. Mr. Hollamby was seventy-seven years of age at the time of his death.
