Late Mr. A. G. Burdett
There passed away in the Hospital at Port Douglas on Thursday evening September 30th, Albert George Burdett, eldest son of William Thomas Burdett, of Brisbane, and brother of William and Arthur, of Mowbray, while three married sisters reside in Brisbane. About 3 years ago deceased sold out at Mowbray, where he had been sugar growing for some time, and left for Brisbane, where he had a bad attack of rheumatic fever, never getting good health there. He leased his farm and came back, about four months ago, to his brother William, who nursed him till the end, which came suddenly. The funeral was largely attended by Mowbray and Port Douglas residents, a special train running to and fro to take Mowbray residents in.

LOST HAND AFTER BLAST
CAIRNS, August 27. A retired farmer, William Thomas Burdett, 76, of Mowbray, near Port Douglas, was seriously hurt yesterday morning when using gelignite near his home. A neighbour, Mrs. George Bobbins, heard cries for help, and found Burdett dazed and bleeding.
Burdett was taken to Mossman Hospital, where It was found he had received severe Injuries to the face and right arm. His right hand has been amputated above the wrist. His condition is serious, but he has shown some Improvement.
It is understood the gelignite exploded in his hand.

Death of an Ex-Maryborough Town Clerk.
Another old Maryborough identity, Mr. Richard John Ramsay, who was at one-time Town Clerk of this city, died at Saltwater Creek Hotel, says the 'Wide Bay News.' The deceased, who was 66 years of age, leaves three sons and five daughters. He was a native of Newcastle on Tyne, Northumberland, England, and came to Australia as a young child with his parents in the good ship Blundel. The family settled at Maryborough. He was employed in the Commercial Bank at Maryborough years ago, from whence he was transferred to Gympie. The deceased also worked as a clerk in the employ of an old Maryborough firm trading under the name of Miller and Menzies, and also as Town Clerk in the early days of the city.
