Cairns and District Family History Society says that Joseph and Christina were married Monday, 24 July 1865.
Mr. John Cairns of Herberton holds the North Queensland record for company promoting these times. A month ago he floated the Golden Treasure at the Tate for 2/- a share, since when it has paid 1/6 a share dividends. Then he organised a local syndicate to purchase the Bakerville tin mine from Messrs. Howe, Putt, and Wilesmith.
Within a week a meeting of the syndicate was held, the purchase money paid over, a manager (Mr. Eales) and staff of men employed and put to work, and the syndicate transformed into a No Liability Company, with a capital of £12,000 divided Into 48,000 shares of 5/- each. The shareholders should be satisfied with their venture, as original Syndicate shares «f £25 each now stand at a premium of £10.
The "Wild River Times" says :-The Bakerville Tin Mining Company No Liability.-The past week has been enlivened by the revival of a keen interest in mining ventures, the principal feature of attraction being the Tourmaline Extended claim, situated at Baker's Camp, between Walsonville and Irvinebank.
