A GOLDEN WEDDING
One of the most pleasing social events that it has been my lot to chronicle, took place at Biggenden last Saturday in the celebration of the golden wedding of Mr and Mrs Edwin Page (writes our Degilbo correspondent.)
The happy but aged couple were married in 1873 on the 23rd of June, and spent the early years of their lives partly at Antigua and the Island Plantation, engaged in the occupation of sugar growing. On the commencement of the construction works on the Maryborough Degilbo line they removed to Degilbo where they entered into the pursuit of grazing and general farming, and have resided in the district ever since. Mr Page has passed his eightieth mile post and Mrs Page is verging on her seventieth. They have reared a family of ten girls and one boy, all grown up and settled in their own homes in this district, also descendant to the fourth generation. A company totalling 67 sat down to the wedding breakfast, whilst a host of congratulations were sent in by many friends and well-wishes. The wedding cake was made by the daughter-in-law and the icing by Mrs Faircloth.

OBITUARY
The death occurred, on the 8th inst., at his son's residence, of Mr Edwin Frank Page, one of the oldest residents of the Biggenden district. The late Mr Page was born at Faversham, Kent (England), and arrived in Maryborough in the year 1872. He proceeded to Bundaberg, and was employed by Mr Arthur Brown, at Barolin and Fairymead, and later at Antigua sugar plantation, where he remained for a period of 14 years. He then removed to the Isis district, where he was engaged in the timber industry. He later proceeded to Biggenden, arriving in 1891, and was engaged in the timber trade here for some years. Mr Page then took up farming and fruit growing, in which he had considerable success, gaining numerous prizes for citrus fruits at Biggenden shows. His wife predeceased him five months ago, after being married over fifty years, the Golden Wedding being celebrated in June, 1925. The deceased leaves a family of ten daughters and one son, nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grand-children. The funeral took place at Degilbo Cemetery the Rev. P. Nommensen officiating at the residence and graveside.

A Wilhelmine STEBEN died Monday, 29 August 1870,  with the index of 70/689 and her parents were Daniel GRIEBE and Anna RINNA. Given all of the mispronunciation and spelling of names in the early years it is possible that this death is the same person. On the death of her sons Claus and William her name was GRUBE.
Witnesses to the marriage were John FRENCH and John McQUILLAN. It is unknown if this John FRENCH is her father as no index entry for death or arrival has been found for either of Martha's parents.
COSSART.— In sad and loving memory of our dear mother, Martha Cossart, who departed this life September 25th, 1906.

And often we dwell on the days that have been.
